Base Chakra Has More Than One Energy Entry Point
While outside walking my cat around the block, I felt a sudden sense of calm.
I was suddenly okay with anything and everything.
Nothing really mattered because I couldn't find anything wrong in the world.
I was content.
I had recently experienced some extreme stress over the course of a few months and had not realized how uneasy my daily routines had become.
Having a decently steady meditation practice for some years, I had known about root chakra clearing and the similar feeling it gives you.
It had been a while since feeling a sense of ease in this way, if I had ever felt it before.
It got me thinking.
I had heard of minor chakras before.
Chakras are entry points for physical or spiritual energy in the human body, as defined by Merriam-Webster.
There are seven primary chakras and several minor chakras that help to make up the primary chakras.
I had similar calming experiences as I did the day with my cat.
It was always during a meditation or yoga practice, however.
So it was easy to contribute these previous instances to that, then.
I had been super panicked, hyperactive, and overall had an unsafe feeling due to the stress, possibly trauma, I had experience a few months prior.
It had become hard to sit still.
The day I was with my cat we were walking very slowly.
There were 2 or 3 instances where I was just standing still, waiting on her to finish exploring that part of the sidewalk.
Your base or root chakra is located at the base of your spine between the spine and the perineum.
When lined up properly during meditation, I have felt this sense of peace and calm.
It is believed by some this is due to proper root chakra alignment.
The best position for this alignment is sitting and upright, with most of your attention focused at the base of the spine where the major point of contact with the surface is.
While slowly walking there was a lot of standing still on my feet, connected to the ground.
My hyperactivity and safety issues were making it hard, even painful, to stand still, without lifting my feet for very long.
I was on the verge of becoming a nervous wreck.
Something switched that day, though.
It seemed like deliberate focused intent to stand still had brought on extremely similar sensations as the intent to sit still.
How interesting! Right?
The bottoms of our feet, as well as the backs of the knees are believed to have energy entry points similar to that at the base of the spine.
These 5 energy points make up the root chakra.
I was shocked!
Stopping to smell the roses actually makes a little more sense to me now.
Once these 5 chakras are aligned the feeling of peace, ease, and understanding is astounding.
At least astounding for me who is constantly worried about silly things.
To reach this state I have found flat shoes like Men's / Women's Converse, or even sandals that let you feel the ground work best.
Too much support or cushioning puts too many layers between the bottoms of the feet and the ground.
Barefoot would probably work best, but if you are outside it might be a little dangerous.
Then, I find a comfortable, level place to stand so I am balanced and comfortable.
I start to focus on the feeling of my entire foot touching the ground at the same time.
I am sure this is different for everyone since each of my feet feels different from the other, but I focus particularly on the heel and toes touching the ground at the same time first and the rest of my foot kind of follows suit.
I try to not press into the ground, however.
Gravity should do that.
I just feel, or sense, the ground underneath my feet.
From there I feel sensation come into my feet seemingly from the ground.
I can feel tingling pulses of energy start to go up my ankles, then steadily through my calves and shins, then into my knees.
My focus momentarily stays there.
Tingling, usually cool but sometimes warm, sensations come into my knees where 2 other minor chakras are located.
Here, I can sense the energy a little more intensely.
The sensations then move up my thighs, hips, and into my groin.
This usually takes some minutes, sometimes less, sometimes more.
I deal with hip discomfort so I sit unevenly.
I have a hard time finding a comfortable , even sitting position most of the time.
This makes balancing my root chakra and meditation in general quite challenging.
Since the day with my cat, I have used this method of balancing the minor root chakras before moving into the primary chakra.
If the base chakra isn't aligned, I don't believe the other ones can be truly balanced.
This method has helped me become more able at finding a comfortable sitting position to find true balance in the first chakra.
This personal discover has helped me tremendously.
Listening to calm, peaceful sounds is helpful, as well.
I like listening to chakra balancing sounds.
If you think this method might be helpful to you, but have a hard time keeping your mind focused on the task, try listening to some peaceful music.
There are several chakra balancing music channels on YouTube.
I have put a playlist of some of my favorites together.
I hope you find this article and the practices I have described helpful in your own journey.
